The professor is obnoxiously confident in his abilities to take a street-savvy flower girl and transform her into a high society lady, merely by changing her speaking ability. He wagers a friend he can teach her “proper” English, but Ms. Doolittle only agrees in order to improve her job prospects (and a way out of the streets.) Higgins and Eliza clash while unknowingly developing a bond that turns romantic, (especially when FREDDIE, an eligible aristocratic suitor comes along!) This show is interwoven with many memorable songs “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly,” “The Rain in Spain,” “On the Street Where You Live,” “Get Me to The Church On Time,” and many more, making it one of Broadway’s most loved shows.
